July 1st will see the end of this delicacy in California. Needless to say foodies and chefs are stockpiling foie gras the whole state over. 

Apparently this foie gras ban has been a serious issue in the States for a while now, and I never knew (a similar ban was implemented and failed previously in Chicago).

“The ban, signed in 2004 but with a seven-and-half-year implementation delay, restricts the sale of any product derived from the force-feeding of birds to enlarge their livers, which is the most common way to produce foie gras.”
